Updating original Reef Angel

Post by Zechenia »

Hey everyone,

I have a standard Reef Angel controller (not plus... the original one). According to my github, I haven't updated anything on it in seven years . At the time I last updated, I ran into some memory issues when I tried to install, and ended up having to fiddle with it to get it to work. At this point, I saved all the libraries along side my ino in the hopes it would make things easier in the future.

Since my code update, everything has been running stable, so I've just left it. At some point, the Wifi module stopped working on the portal (looks like a major change on how that works), and now it no longer functions even on my network locally. This wasn't enough to push me to change anything, because I know a headache is going to happen when I do... especially as I've long since retired the laptop that I had this setup on originally.

Unfortunately, this week my device somehow completely messed up the time, and is off by like 4 hours. This means my light schedule is totally messed up for viewing times. I think this means that I probably need to re-upload my code.

Now my question - I know I am in for a decent amount of work getting this setup to upload and work successfully. Has the standard Reef Angel been totally sunset, or is there someway I can look at updating everything to the latest libraries? I think I saw a guide on fixing the wifi someplace, but I think I also need to track that down, as I'd love to get that working again (specifically low ATO warnings).

Thanks

If its the original Reef Angel then there isn't many options since it has limited memory. I will send you a PM
Sincerely, Brennyn
